Event description

  • Inclusion
ASU's Latinx Oral History Lab presents Jennifer R. Nájera, professor of ethnic studies at University of California Riverside. "Learning to Lead," tells the stories of undocumented young people who become community advocates and activists during college. Taking an expansive view of education, Nájera shows how students’ experiences in college — in and out of the classroom — can affect their activism and advocacy work. Nájera's research interests lie at the intersections of race, immigration and education.

More about Nájera:
  • She is the author of The Borderlands of Race: Mexican Segregation in a South Texas Town.
  • She is a co-PI on the Mapping Chicana/Mexicana Organizing in the Borderlands digital oral history project.
