Amalgamation

Amalgamation ASU Gallery 100

“Amalgamation” can be defined as the action, process or result of combining or uniting. The word itself relates to this particular exhibition because it contains a mixture of different photographic styles and focuses. “Amalgamation” is a photographic exhibition featuring the work of four photographers graduating from the Herberger Institute with bachelor's degrees in fine art photography.

Johanna Campbell-Sequeira’s series explores the concept of death through the decay process of the Saguaro in the desert landscape. Ashley Yazzie’s “Recollection of Interweaving” investigates and retains the bond between her mother and herself, rediscovering her heritage and role as a daughter. Taylor Schroeder’s “Firenze” is a collection of street photography that explores the minute parts of life that go unnoticed on the ancient cobblestones of Florence, Italy. Yanan Li’s body of work deals with the unification of photography and other art forms. It involves processing and transferring photographs onto different mediums. Although distinctly their own, each photographer’s work seems to have similar conversations about the past, whether it be in style, medium, content or presentation.

Please come to the free opening reception on Tuesday, Oct. 3 from 6–8 p.m. at Gallery 100, located at 951 South Mill Avenue in Tempe, Arizona. The gallery will also have open hours from Oct. 2–5 from noon to 5 p.m. and Oct. 6 from noon to 3 p.m.
