Please note that the date for this event has changed to Oct. 31.

The ASU Book Group's October 2018 reading selection is "Human Interest" by Valerie Bandura. The book group is open to all in the ASU community and meets monthly from noon to 1 p.m. in the Piper Writers House on ASU's Tempe campus. Authors are always present. A no-host luncheon follows at the University Club. Attendees at each meeting will be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate! Drawing to be held in April.

“Human Interest” is Bandura's second collection of poems. The themes in the book explore issues of class and culture in America, a timely topic. Her first book, "Freak Show," was a finalist for the 2014 Paterson Poetry Prize. Bandura’s recent poems have appeared in top-tier national journals, including American Poetry Review, The Gettysburg Review and Ploughshares.

The book is available from amazon.com.

Valerie Bandura (Finn) is an instructor in English at ASU.
