ASU Symphony Orchestra Concert of Soloists: Ravel, Bates and Prize Winners

The ASU Symphony Orchestra presents the winners of the 2016 concerto competition in the Concert of Soloists. The program begins with Mason Bates's blues-inspired "White Lies for Lomax" and includes the Concert of Soloists winners, 

  • Grace Chen, a junior in the Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree program performing Waignein’s Rhapsody for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra
  • Christiano Rodrigues in his first year in the Doctor of Music degree program performing Sibelius’ Violin Concerto, I. Allegro Moderato
  • Wesley Skinner in his first year in the Doctor of Music degree program performing Bloch’s Schelomo: Rhapsodie Hébraïque for violoncello and orchestra

The program concludes with Ravel's opulent and explosive "Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2"
