You’re invited to a virtual conversation with Shawn Banzhaf about his book, “The Five Ls: A Practical Guide for Helping Loved Ones Heal After Trauma” on Wednesday, July 13 from 4 to 5 p.m. Banzhaf’s inspiring book offers readers guidance and tools on ways to live a more wholehearted life by caring for others. Shawn Banzhaf currently serves as the associate director of Student Success and Academic Innovation at the Pat Tillman Veterans Center and will be joined by librarian Wes Edens from the ASU Library.

About Shawn Banzhaf

Shawn Banzhaf [Bon-zof] (he/him/his) is a highly innovative trainer who inspires others around him to learn. For 21 years, Banzhaf served the United States in the Army National Guard. He retired as the acting First Sergeant of the 1057th Transportation Company. He is an Iraqi War veteran, during which he earned the Bronze Star and Combat Action Badge during 100 combat missions in and around Baghdad, Ramadi and Fallujah. Most recently, Banzhaf has been connected to the Trauma Informed Movement across Arizona, through which he has been a guest trainer on the topics of PTSD and suicide prevention within the veteran community. Since 2015, Banzhaf has been connected both through volunteer work and full-time staff at Arizona State University. Currently, he is the assistant director, serving the more than 10,000 military-affiliated students at the largest public institution in the U.S.

About Wes Edens

Wes Edens is a librarian in the Social Science Division of ASU Library, with more than 24 years of experience in the field of business information. He was formerly director of the International Business Information Centre at Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is a U.S. Navy veteran, having served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) as an Operations Specialist. He holds a master’s degree in library science from The University of Arizona and an MBA from ASU.
