Beyond Learning Loss

The English education program in the Department of English at ASU presents a virtual talk by educator Antero Garcia of Stanford University: "Beyond Learning Loss: Speculative Approaches to Freedom, Literacy, and Learning." The event takes place online on Tuesday, Sep. 27 from 4:30 to 6 p.m., is free of charge, and is open to the public. Registration is required.

As we begin the fourth academic year touched by the global pandemic, rhetoric about returning to “normal” and addressing learning loss amidst systemic disruption dominates educational discourse. In this interactive workshop, Dr. Garcia explore approaches to critical opportunities for healing and critical literacy development in this complicated sociopolitical moment.
