Bibliotherapy: Poetry in Health Care Environments, with Lady Paula Byrne

Please join the Health Humanities Initiative at the Institute for Humanities Research for an afternoon discussion with Paula Byrne, a literary biographer, novelist and the founding director of ReLit: The Bibliotherapy Foundation at Oxford.

In 2014 Paula Byrne founded ReLit, the Foundation for the complementary treatment of stress, anxiety and other conditions through the art of slow reading of great literature, especially poetry. In this lecture, she describes the work of the foundation in two health care settings: a specialist in-patient unit for adolescents with acute mental health needs and a continuing professional development program for health practitioners seeking to manage stress and avoid burnout.
