Blueshift: Coming at you Fast
The public is invited to greet the change of seasons at Blueshift, an evening event filled with forward-looking artworks and installations accompanied by refreshments, music, and performances. MFA and BFA students from Arizona State University's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, will display a range of innovative and exploratory works from the Sculpture, Woods, Metals, Fibers, and lntermedia programs of the School of Art.
Blue shift, a term rooted in astronomy, indicates the increase in the frequency of Starlight due to the Doppler shift in celestial objects moving toward us. Blue shifted galaxies are rare. Blue shift can also be created by shrinking the space between two points via gravity or space warps. In this exhibition, Blue shift represents a visionary new generation of emerging artists working in the Valley, whose ideas are now moving to the forefront of the visual arts scene.
