Our featured lecturer for October is Kongjian Yu, founder and principal of the world-renowned landscape architecture, architecture and urban design firm Turenscape, which focuses on nature, man and spirit as one. Turenscape's philosophy is to create harmony between land and people and to create sustainable environments for the future.

About the 2018–19 Lecture Series

This year's theme will focus on "Experimentation." Lecturers will discuss how they are pushing boundaries in their field as well as share compelling examples of experimentation within their profession and the design world.

About Kongjian Yu

A recipient of a Doctor of Design at Harvard Graduate School of Design, Kongjian Yu founded Peking University College of Architecture and Landscape as well as Turenscape. 

"Big Feet Revolution," "Art of Survival" and "Sponge City" are some of the keywords that depict his design philosophy, which has been demonstrated in his practices in over 200 cities. 

His works won numerous international awards including 12 American Society of Landscape Architects Awards and five World Architecture Festival Best Landscape Awards. His theories have been adopted by the Chinese government for a nationwide ecological campaign. 

He was elected as member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2016 and is a recipient of the Doctor Honoris Causa from the Sapienza University of Rome.
