Emerge: A Festival of Futures

Emerge: A Festival of Futures

Emerge is an art, science and technology festival devoted to the creative exploration of possible futures. The 2017 theme, "Frankenstein," focuses on the risks and responsibilities of innovation. Through multimedia artworks, scientific demonstrations and performances, Emerge prompts us to ask: Can we know what the future holds? Can we create the futures we want?

Emerge 2017 provides the valley with an imaginative window into the future by inviting visitors to explore a house of wonder, filled with speculative technologies, fortune tellers, music, film and performative experiments that cross boundaries between art and science. Two centuries ago, such a house inspired the young Mary Shelley to begin the iconic tale of Frankenstein's monster. What futures do today’s science and technology prompt us to imagine?

Emerge will feature provocative performances and interactive exhibitions intended to draw visitors into conversation about the desirability and consequences of scientific and technological innovations. For a full list of exhibits and activities, visit emerge.asu.edu.
