First Saturday for Families at the ASU Art Museum: Avatar Animation

This free program takes place on the first Saturday of every month and invites children ages 4-12 and their families to make a creative project in conjunction with exhibitions. No registration required. All materials are provided and families can take home their artwork.

Can you imagine yourself as an animal roaming the wild? Or as a tree blowing in the wind? Choose the avatar that best represents you and learn simple animation techniques with thaumatropes and phenakistoscopes. Look for inspiration in artist Sandra Ramos’ animations in the exhibition, "Watertight: Sandra Ramos" (on view through May 28). Plus, sign up for our special animation workshop led by local artists for ages 9+.

Support for First Saturdays for Families at the ASU Art Museum has been generously provided by The Steele Foundation.
