Grady Gammage's work focuses on urban growth and development, quality of life, and local economic issues. He served on the Central Arizona Project Board of Directors for 12 years and led the Board during a time of turbulence when it was suing the Federal government over the cost of the canal.

Gammage is well known for his book, "Phoenix in Perspective: Reflections on Developing the Desert" and just recently published, "The Future of the Suburban City: Lessons from Sustaining Phoenix." In his new book, Gammage offers a personal perspective on the explosive growth and development of Phoenix. In this talk, he will delve into the history of real estate, water, and urban and suburban development in the Valley of the Sun, with an emphasis on how water, air-conditioning, and the car have shaped the metropolis.
