Please join us for the grand opening reception and panel presentation for "In the Stacks: Print Wikipedia," featuring the work of artist Michael Mandiberg, on exhibit at ASU's Hayden Library.

Speakers:

Michael Mandiberg: Michael Mandiberg (born 1977, Detroit) is an interdisciplinary artist, scholar, and educator. He received his Masters in Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts and his Bachelors of Arts from Brown University. His work traces the lines of political and symbolic power online, working on the internet in order to comment on and intercede in the real flows of information. A recipient of residencies and commissions from Eyebeam, Rhizome.org, and Turbulence.org, his work has been exhibited at the New Museum, Ars Electronica, ZKM, and Transmediale. He directs the New York Arts Practicum, and is a co-founder of the Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. He is associate professor at the College of Staten Island/ CUNY and a member of the Doctoral Faculty at the CUNY Graduate Center. His work has been written about widely, including in The New York Times, Berliner Zeitung, ARTNews, and Artforum. He lives and works in Brooklyn; his work lives at Mandiberg.com.

Ed Finn:  Ed Finn is the founding director of the Center for Science and the Imagination at Arizona State University, where he is an assistant professor with a joint appointment in the School of Arts, Media and Engineering and the Department of English. Ed’s research and teaching explore digital narratives, contemporary culture and the intersection of the humanities, arts and sciences. He is the co-editor of "Hieroglyph: Stories and Visions for a Better Future" (William Morrow, 2014) and is currently working on a book about the changing nature of reading and writing in the age of algorithms. He completed his doctorate in English and American literature at Stanford University in 2011. Before graduate school Ed worked as a journalist at Time, Slate and Popular Science. He earned his bachelor’s degree at Princeton University in 2002 with a Comparative Literature major and certificates in Applications of Computing, Creative Writing and European Cultural Studies

Meredith Hoy:  Meredith Hoy is assistant professor of art history and theory in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University. She received her doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley in 2010 in the department of Rhetoric. (Read full bio)
