Las Hermanas Iglesias

Las Hermanas Iglesias are artists Lisa and Janelle Iglesias. Lisa and Janelle have distinct individual practices grounded in drawing and sculpture in addition to their frequent project-based collaboration as Las Hermanas Iglesias. In the past few years, they've expanded their collaborative practice, this time combining their individual visual research and playing with ideas of authorship. Motivated by the synchronicities and parallels they identify between their studios, the work is driven by a spirit of mischief, process, experimentation and mirroring. Alternately playful and highly formal, the works reckon with palindromic strategies and creative gestures of call and response.
