The Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. as American Leader and Statesman
The School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership is proud to announce the inaugural presentation of two signed books by Martin Luther King Jr., both added to the ASU archive in the first week of 2018. Autographed, first edition copies of "Strength to Love," the 1963 collection of King's sermons, and "Stride Toward Freedom," King's 1958 memoir of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, will be on view in the library from 4 to 5 pm on Jan. 17. Join us for a reception and remarks by Matthew Delmont, director of the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies. Professor Delmont will discuss the endurance of King's work, his legacy in Arizona, and his 1964 speech at ASU, less than a month before the signing of the Civil Rights Act.
