Join the School of Music for a free public masterclass with the University of St. Thomas's Dr. Suzanne Schons.

Shons teaches piano and courses in piano pedagogy at St. Thomas. Until 2006 she was tenured Associate Professor of Music at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, where she coordinated the graduate and undergraduate piano pedagogy programs and taught class piano. She holds a doctorate in music education with an emphasis in piano pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma, and also has degrees in Piano Performance. Schons is an active researcher and clinician in piano pedagogy, and has presented sessions at the national conventions of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and Music Educators National Conference (MENC), and numerous state conventions. Recent publications of hers can be found in Keyboard Companion, Contributions to Music Education and Piano Pedagogy Forum. Along with her college teaching, she enjoys performing, researching, adjudicating, and teaching piano to children and adults.
