Mechanistic Insights and Therapeutic Approaches for Frontotemporal Dementia and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Leonard Petrucelli

Speaker: Leonard Petrucelli, Ph.D., Chair, Department of Neuroscience, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, Jacksonville, Florida

Petrucelli’s team is at the forefront of research investigating the cellular mechanisms that cause neurodegeneration in diseases characterized by abnormal protein aggregation, such as Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. In expanding upon a commitment to understanding the causes of such diseases, he emphasizes translational research geared toward identifying and developing therapies for treatment and prevention.
