MLK March on West

ASU MLK March on West

Celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at the MLK March on West. The annual Martin Luther King Jr. March on West is a tradition at Arizona State University’s West campus that dates back to 1991. Hundreds of middle school students participate in interactive educational presentations about the civil rights movement before preparing posters and recreating the historical 1963 March on Washington, D.C. At the end of the march, they will hear the inspirational “I Have a Dream” speech, re-enacted by ASU faculty member Charles St. Clair.

This year, a historical text display in the La Sala foyer will feature signed, first-edition copies of "Stride Toward Freedom," Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1958 memoir of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and "Strength to Love," a collection of his sermons published in 1963.

MLK March on West

The public is invited to join the MLK March on West and experience the re-enactment. The march starts at 11 a.m. at the Paley Gates in front of campus and ends in the Sands/Kiva Courtyard. The event is free and open to all students, faculty, staff and community members. Visitor parking on campus costs $3 per hour.
