Music of the Silk Road: A Dutar Performance by #Dutarbagshy

Come hear the warm and dulcet tones of the two-stringed dutar!

Batyr Odeyev, who is better known as #Dutarbagshy on social media and currently lives in Washington, D.C., has from childhood studied with many dutar masters.  For five years, he studied at a musical school in Kerki, Lebap, Turkmenistan, under the famous dutar bagshy, Mustak Aymedov.  Odeyev has performed several times on Turkmen national TV. 

Odeyev earned his BA in international relations from the International Turkmen Turkish University in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, and his MA in political science from the University of Nevada-Reno. Before starting his own company, Maymarg, LLC, he served as a lecturer at the University for the Humanities and Development in Ashgabat and he also worked for the Turkic American Alliance.
