Night of the Open Door at Downtown Phoenix - Law & Sustainability

Night of the Open Door

The Program on Law and Sustainability is one of the most innovative in the country. Its faculty experts research and teach in every major area of sustainability policy, including climate change, water, energy, and environmental protection. In an area evolving so rapidly, stop by our booth at the entrance of the Arizona Center for Law and Society building to hear from students who are learning from top scholars doing cutting-edge projects that impact local, national, and international communities.

While you're at our booth, view vibrant renderings to help you visualize the completed building. The Arizona Center for Law and Society has been designed, at every stage, to engage and educate the public about the positive role that law plays in everyday lives. Sustainability is an important component of the Arizona Center for Law and Society. The building planners took into consideration environmental factors such as location, yearly sun exposure, wind, and solar heat gain. Configuration of the main building facade changes in response to solar orientation, window size, and programmatic requirements. The walls are heavily insulated, the roof has chilled beams, and there is under-floor displacement cooling. Energy consumption is expected to be reduced by 37 percent compared to a baseline building, and vacancy sensors will reduce power usage. To help minimize onsite irrigation, desert-adaptive plants will be utilized throughout open spaces.

Previously announced tours have been canceled due to last-minute safety hazards.
