Opening Reception: Testing the Waters

Testing the Waters

The “nature” of water has been re-fashioned and re-purposed over more than a century. The stories told by previous generations expressed the values and challenges of their times. Like a river flowing, the past, present and future are all connected and interdependent. Testing the Waters is an exhibition comprised of stories, animations, images and video that share “stories of place” tied to water quality across the state of Arizona. Working with a combination of teachers, artists and local writers, students are challenged to find ways to bring the “dry facts” of Arizona water to life through words and images. Exhibitors include Kaard Bombe, Dan Collins, Kimberly Lyle, Justin Rodier, Jenea Sanchez, Shawn Skabelund and participating students from Coconino High School, Douglas High School, Maryvale High Schoola and PPEP Academy.

Join the artists for an opening reception on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 5–8 p.m.
