Parker Barfield: Large, Small, Near, Far (by appointment)
"Large, Small, Near, Far," an MFA Thesis Exhibition by Parker Barfield explores the artist’s deep psychological and spiritual connections with the geologic features and plant life of Arizona. Through surrealistic and emblematic representations, Barfield not only gives voice to his own psycho-geography but also to the natural entities themselves. Exhibited works whisper of the animism and subtle auras found in the mineral and vegetable kingdoms. A uniquely personal, earthly, yet spiritual vision is realized through painting and drawing. In sum, the artist finds the union of the interior and exterior worlds, the monumental and the minute, the human and the non-human, and things very close and infinitely distant.
This exhibition can be viewed by appointment during gallery hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To schedule an appointment, please contact galleries@asu.edu.
