Salute to Service: 'Enduring Vietnam' Talk by Dr. James Wright

Salute to Service: 'Enduring Vietnam' Talk by Dr. James Wright

Join us for "Enduring Vietnam: An American Generation and Its War," a talk by James Wright, Dartmouth College president emeritus and Eleazar Wheelock Professor of History.

The Vietnam War endures vividly in the memories of the veterans who served there. The faded national narrative of that war has not yet fully recognized the experience of those who have served. James Wright will discuss the baby boomers and their experience of Vietnam and coming home from an unpopular war. He will tell us why and how we all need to understand and share in their memory.

James Wright is the author of several books, including "Those Who Have Borne the Battle." His most recent book, "Enduring Vietnam," was a finalist for the 2018 Dayton Literary Peace Prize. Since 2005, he has been volunteering in efforts to support veterans. He has been recognized for this engagement by the secretary of the Army, the commandant of the Marine Corps and the commander-in-chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He currenty serves on the board of the Semper Fi Fund.
