School of Life Sciences Fall 2020 New Faculty Showcase

Esther Borges Florsheim: "How the immune system can change behavior and why we have allergies"

Animals evolved many defense mechanisms to cope with unfavorable environments. I study how immune and neuronal defenses can affect behavior in the context of allergies.

Noah Snyder-Mackler: "Social and environmental determinants of health in humans and other animals"

The social environment is a strong predictor of health and survival in many species. Here I will discuss my work that examines how our social and physical environment can "get under the skin" to alter our immune function, health and survival.
