Southern Southwest Archaeological Conference
The Southern Southwest Archaeological Conference (SSWAC) is a new conference aimed at highlighting current archaeological research in the Southern Southwest United States and Northwest Mexico. We aim to hold this conference every other year, each time in a different location around the region. This will allow participants to explore the history of various localities through site visits and other activities while also showcasing new and innovative research from throughout the region. Alongside sharing research, goals for the conference include building community and facilitating collaboration among those interested in the archaeology of the region.
Rather than putting a hard boundary around what constitutes the Southern Southwest U.S. and Northwest Mexico, SSWAC aims simply to shift emphasis and attention southward to a broad region that often receives less attention than it merits. We aim to be inclusive and encourage all interested parties to participate in exploring new research within this area.

About the Speaker
Randall H. McGuire is an archaeologist and SUNY Distinguished Professor at Binghamton University. He is primarily interested in the development of power relations in the past. He has carried out most of his field work in the U.S. Southwest and is currently conducting a long-term field project in northwest Mexico.
Attendance Costs
The cost to attend is $45 advance ($55 on-site) for regular admission and $35 advance ($45 on-site) for students with valid student ID. Advance rates are available until Dec. 31, 2018.
