Spring 2017 Interdisciplinary Analytics and Application Development Seminar

Are you a master’s student or advanced bachelor’s student interested in working with students on interdisciplinary projects? 

Do you want to get some hands-on development experience using Java and the Spring Framework, or learn more about text mining, network analysis and data visualization? 

Are you faculty or staff interesting in learning new research methods? (No previous programming experience is required.)

The Spring 2017 Interdisciplinary Analytics and Application Development Seminar is a 2-hour weekly meeting offered through the ASU Library Unit for Data Science and Analytics and the Digital Innovation Group. The seminar offers two parallel tracks that focus on either: 1) analytics and visualization or 2) software development for web applications. The groups will alternatively meet together and separately, and the desired outcome is an application that groups will collaborate to produce. There is an option to take this series as a 1-credit course. 

The seminar will meet on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., location TBD. The first meeting will be the last week of January, and the series will run up until the last week of classes.

A prerequisite for this seminar is good Java coding skills and the motivation to deliver a prototype by the end of the semester.
