Stalingrad (1993, director Joseph Vilsmaier).

A platoon of German soldiers arrives at the Battle of Stalingrad, one of the most brutal battles of WII, confident in their victory. "Stalingrad" begins with grand battles, but soon the men are ravaged by hunger and cold as they fight for each street in the city they have destroyed. German director Joseph Vilsmaier’s film depicts the absolute chaos and social breakdown that accompany the carnages of war.

With an introduction by Kim Allar and Volker Benkert, professors in the School of Historical,
Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS), and faculty affiliates of the Melikian Center.
