TAG Exhibition Performances

TAG Exhibition, performances by Anton Lapov and Memo Gutierrez

In conjunction with the closing reception for the TAG exhibition, MFA students Abby Galvin, Memo Gutierrez and Anton Lapov present new performance work. Galvin will deliver a performative lecture titled Comprehensive Plan of Knowledge Transfer to New Peanut Butter and Jelly Users, while Gutierrez and Lapov perform solo and collaborative audio-visual work. In a continuation of Tool Study #1, Lapov will improvise with an interface for sound-synthesis and control. Gutierrez will do his first solo performance utilizing tape sampling and custom-built circuitries. At the end, both artists will join together for an audio-visual jam session.

This group exhibition at Step Gallery features the work of School of Art MFA students and is organized by TAG (The Art Grads). The artists in this exhibition represent multiple areas of focus and points of development within the program. Works on view include ceramics, painting, performance, photography, printmaking, sculpture and video. TAG is a group of ASU graduate students within the Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts. Founded in 2015, the goal of the organization is to promote and establish community building, professional development and student advocacy for current graduate students in the MFA and MA program at ASU's School of Art.
