TheatreLAB: 'Valentino and the Chilean Heiress' (A Tango Fantasia)

Photos of dancers, actors and filmmakers

The wealthy Chilean heiress Blanca DeMille meets Rudolph Valentino in New York in the 1910s when he’s a vulnerable, impoverished Italian immigrant struggling to survive as a dancer/actor. Blanca shocks New York society when she shoots her husband to death and undergoes a dramatic murder trial in this true crime romance. Valentino's relationship to Blanca forms part of the actor’s early rumor and legend, and it is presented in a highly stylized, tango-infused, fictionalized rendition. Written and directed by Guillermo Reyes.

TheatreLAB is a series of staged readings of new and original works in development. All proceeds from ticket sales go toward a scholarship fund for ASU theater students.
