Join The Design School's second year and fourth year environmental design students for "The With-Drawing Room." This free event will take place at the Phoenix Art Museum on Friday, Dec. 7, in the Great Hall from 6 to 10 p.m.
The exhibition will showcase the student's work involving memories and memos, manifested in the form of manuscripts, books, models and videos. Each student conducted research of personal memories and current societal conditions, creating a library that attempts to counter the current 'withdrawing' of books from physical reality.
Enjoy a powerful display that speculates on the future of the built environment by re-emphasizing the capacity of physical manuscripts, books and narratives to construct truth and desire into history in an age defined by dematerialized, digital media.
The environmental design undergraduate program is designed to create a deep awareness and knowledge of issues that influence the design of built environments and the design of artifacts. The program of study emphasizes general knowledge and design research in the areas of sustainability in environmental design, design innovation, technology and design strategy as well as in the histories and theories of design.
