XSEDE Big Data Workshop

ASU Research Computing is hosting a free two-day XSEDE Big Data workshop for faculty members, staff and students on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 7–8.

Attendees will leave with a working knowledge of how to leverage Apache’s Hadoop or Spark frameworks to process and store extremely large data sets that could run on either XSEDE’s and/or ASU’s High-Performance Computing environments. This workshop is intended to give a hands-on introduction to Apache’s Hadoop, a Java-based programming framework that supports the processing and storage of extremely large datasets in distributed computing environments, and Apache’s Spark, an open-sourced cluster-computing framework. This event will be presented using the Wide Area Classroom(WAC) training platform.

XSEDE, the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment, is the most advanced, powerful, and robust collection of integrated digital resources and services in the world. It is a single virtual system that scientists and researchers can use to interactively share computing resources, data, and expertise. XSEDE integrates the resources and services, makes them easier to use, and helps more people use them.
