Enumerating and Notation: Musicality of the Book

Explore the contemplative and musical qualities of book page design. Repetition, cinematic pagination, time-based compositions, and even the sound of paper as you turn pages can become a medium or a meditation in itself. We will experiment with a variety of low-tech image and mark-making methods and bind your finished pages into a pamphlet-sewn booklet with a soft cover.

Heather Green's projects and installations examine the historical and ecological narratives of the Northern Gulf of California and the Sonoran Desert. The collaborative nature of her work has allowed her to ally with a diverse range of individuals including scientists, poets and fishermen. Green is a recipient of the 2011 Arizona Commission on the Arts Artist Project Grant, the 2010 Community Foundation of Southern Arizona/Buffalo Exchange Arts Award, and the Oregon College of Art and Craft Emerging Artist Residency in Book Arts. Her work has been shown in México, Uruguay, and in museums and galleries both regionally and across the United States.
