Join ASU College of Integrative Sciences and Arts for a screening of the award-winning film La Cocina at the Majestic Gilbert 8 movie theater on Monday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. Arrive at 6:30 p.m. to check in, grab your ticket and purchase some snacks before the film!
Starring Rooney Mara and Raúl Briones, La Cocina follows restaurant staff chasing the elusive American dream in a bustling Times Square kitchen."La Cocina is a poignant and darkly comic tribute to the invisible heroes who fuel our culinary desires while fighting for a place in a world that often refuses to acknowledge their existence.” The film is directed by Mexico's acclaimed Alonso Ruizpalacios, known for GUEROS, MUSEO and A COP MOVIE (Netflix).
Before the film, enjoy a panel discussion to explore the film’s themes with:
• Rafael Martínez, assistant professor of southwest borderlands, ASU’s School of Applied Sciences and Arts in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts
• Laura Dicochea, PhD candidate, ASU’s School of Transborder Studies
• Martine García, assistant director of strategic initiatives, ASU Career Services
This event is open to the public and free for ASU students who register. For faculty, staff and community members who wish to attend the upcoming film screening, tickets can be purchased directly through the Majestic 8 Gilbert website.
