Annual Inclusive Excellence Lecture with Chris Howard

The W. P. Carey School of Business invites members of the W. P. Carey community, Arizona State University, and the broader public to attend the Annual Inclusive Excellence Lecture featuring Chris Howard, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Arizona State University.

This annual lecture brings together faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community partners for a thoughtful conversation on leadership, institutional innovation, service, access, and the role of higher education in expanding opportunity and advancing meaningful impact.

Howard serves as one of ASU’s key enterprise leaders, working closely with President Michael Crow and the university’s executive leadership team to coordinate enterprise-wide initiatives, technology, advancement, planning, and strategy. His leadership career spans higher education, military service, national security, business, athletics, and nonprofit impact.

A distinguished graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Howard earned his doctorate in politics from the University of Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar and holds an MBA with distinction from Harvard Business School. His military service includes roles as a helicopter pilot and intelligence officer, service in Afghanistan, and receipt of the Bronze Star. He has also served as president of Robert Morris University and Hampden-Sydney College, as well as Vice President for Leadership and Strategic Initiatives at the University of Oklahoma.

Through this lecture, Howard will share insights from his extraordinary career in leadership, strategy, service, and higher education. Attendees will be invited to reflect on how universities can strengthen communities, cultivate talent, broaden access, and prepare leaders to address complex challenges across disciplines and sectors.

Howard's talk will be titled My American Journey & the ASU Hall Pass.
