The “Thinking Beyond” webinar series features renowned physicists Paul Davies, Sara Walker and Maulik Parikh from the Beyond Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science at Arizona State University and addresses big questions/topics in science. This month, Mark Jackson will present the topic and will be joined by Paul Davies and Maulik Parikh.

The Race for Quantum Computing
Quantum computing is becoming one of the most important technological revolutions. By performing calculations with quantum physics, many problems impossible for conventional computers are now becoming solvable. In the next few years we expect to see advances including personalized medicine, longer lifetime for batteries, optimized supply chains, and hardened cybersecurity. In this presentation I will introduce quantum computing, provide an update on the current status, describe some of the use cases, and speculate on their implications for society.
