Dombrowski is a teaching professor in the School of Applied Sciences and Arts and an ASU alum (BA English ’96 and PhD English ’07). She’s also the curriculum designer for Arizona’s Big Read celebration of Dickinson.
The book group is open to all in the ASU community and meets monthly from noon to 1 p.m. in Hayden Library on the ASU Tempe campus as well as online. Please register to attend.
Haven't read the book? Come anyway! Authors are always present.
Synopsis
Dombrowski’s “Emily’s Advice for Girls in the New Millennium” has been described as “a poetic séance” where the reader is granted a direct line to Emily Dickinson, one that dives behind the man-made myth and edited screen of her work, to the complicated woman who shares contemporary advice flush with profound relevance.
“The Essential Emily Dickinson,” selected with an introduction by Joyce Carol Oates, brings together Dickinson’s profound and beloved works, capturing the essence of her timeless genius.
“Emily’s Advice” and “The Essential Emily Dickinson” are available at local bookstores.
