ASU Cares: Tempe
ASU Cares is the annual nationwide volunteer community service program organized by the ASU Alumni Association. Throughout the month of March, ASU alumni across the country will participate in volunteer projects in their communities, coordinated by the local ASU Alumni Chapters and Clubs.
For our local Tempe project, this year we are partnering with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for a Hearts and Hands event. The event is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.—11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, in the Carson Ballroom of Old Main, 400 E. Tyler Mall, Tempe campus.
The Society of St. Vincent De Paul describes its work as harnessing the power of community and partnerships to feed, clothe, house and heal individuals and families in our community. SVdP provides opportunities for volunteers to serve their neighbors in need with love and compassion. We are proud to be partnering this year with St. Vincent De Paul to create Sweet Dreams and Welcome Home cards.
The care project this year will be either assembling utensil kits that are needed for the 4,600 meals that are served daily through 5 St. Vincent DePaul charity dining rooms, or creating handmade cards for the shelter's bed spaces. Donatoins are also being accepted for clothing, especially mens pants and shoes. Please consider bringing new or gently used items with you for our clothing collection as well.
This event is family-friendly and all are encouraged to participate!
