ASU Dance: Transitions II

Event description

  • Arts and entertainment
  • Open to the public

Each Transitions performance features original choreography created by senior undergraduate dance students and performed by ASU students. This is an opportunity to experience the future of dance, right here in Tempe!

"fLuX" is a two-weekend showcase celebrating the culminating projects of the graduating senior class in Dance. This event highlights the depth, range and individuality of their work across choreography; production and design; performance; pedagogy; arts leadership, scholarship and research; applied somatics; and community engagement.
Weekend 2 will feature these pieces:

Age of the Flower Children | Janalee Atkinson
Forensic Movement | Keira Lee Nichols
Assembly Line Broken | Alyssa Valentin
I Don't Want to be Stuck Against a Brick Wall Anymore | Giana Garcia
Remember Me When You Secondline | Nicole Love
Unravel Me | Paislee McAuley
SHOWTIME | Ashley Koclanis

Audience members are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the performance to engage in an immersive pre-show experience. This interactive component offers insight into the wide array of projects the seniors have developed throughout the year and provides a deeper understanding of the research, creative processes, and interdisciplinary practices that inform the work on stage.

Each choreographic work offers its own perspective, movement language, and emotional world, reflecting the distinct artistic voice of its creator. Together, these pieces form a dynamic and layered experience that speaks to both the individuality of each artist and the collective identity these students have shaped as a cohort. "fLuX" honors not only their creative achievements, but also the expansive ways they are preparing to contribute to the field of dance.
