 Register for a free 15-minute hearing screening. Hearing loss can develop gradually and often without noticeable pain. Adults should be screened for hearing loss if they experience one or more of the following symptoms:

 

  • Avoidance of social settings or reduced participation in activities.
  • Consistent requests for repetition.
  • Difficulty understanding the speech of high-pitched speakers, in noise or on the telephone.
  • Dizziness.
  • Hearing others’ speech as mumbled.
  • Increasing the volume on the television and other devices.
  • Listening fatigue.
  • Ringing in the ears or tinnitus.
  • Speaking too loudly or too softly.
  • Trouble hearing consonants.

 

What is a hearing screening?

  • An otoscopic evaluation to determine if outer ear issues, such as cerumen (earwax) or other problems, need attention.
  • A pure-tone test to determine if hearing levels are at or below the screening levels at key speech frequencies.
  • A screening questionnaire to identify perceived diff
