Register for a free 15-minute hearing screening. Hearing loss can develop gradually and often without noticeable pain. Adults should be screened for hearing loss if they experience one or more of the following symptoms:
- Avoidance of social settings or reduced participation in activities.
- Consistent requests for repetition.
- Difficulty understanding the speech of high-pitched speakers, in noise or on the telephone.
- Dizziness.
- Hearing others’ speech as mumbled.
- Increasing the volume on the television and other devices.
- Listening fatigue.
- Ringing in the ears or tinnitus.
- Speaking too loudly or too softly.
- Trouble hearing consonants.
What is a hearing screening?
- An otoscopic evaluation to determine if outer ear issues, such as cerumen (earwax) or other problems, need attention.
- A pure-tone test to determine if hearing levels are at or below the screening levels at key speech frequencies.
- A screening questionnaire to identify perceived diff
