Join the Department of English's creative writing program in celebrating the publication of the poetry collection "Compulsive Swim" (Outcast Press, 2023) by recent alum Austin Davis (BA 2022). Davis will read from his work at this launch event, which is also supported by the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing..

Davis is a 22-year-old poet, activist and the founder of AZ Hugs For the Houseless. He is also the author of the poetry collection "Lotus & The Apocalypse."

About AZ Hugs: AZ Hugs For the Houseless aims to spread dignity, respect, understanding and friendship to those living on the streets. AZ Hugs conducts daily street outreach around the valley and works to connect folks in need with a personalized care model for each individual situation. Every day, AZ Hugs connects people to services including detox, rehab, shelter, rental assistance, transportation and housing. In addition, AZ Hugs delivers essential items and special request items to folks throughout the week and on Sundays, they host the Sunday Family Picnic, a weekly resource fair and 3-5 course meal for those experiencing homelessness in the Tempe / Phoenix area.
