Biostatistics Seminar: Part 1 of 2: Introduction to Bayesian Data Analysis and Multi-Membership Multi-Level Modeling
Event description
- Professional and career development
The Biostatistics Consultation Core continues its Biostatistics Seminar Series with a two-part seminar addressing key challenges in modeling correlated longitudinal data with time-varying covariates. The seminar introduces a Bayesian analytical framework and illustrates its application using NHANES data.
Part 1:
This presentation introduces two fundamental frameworks in public health research and data analysis. The first part is to introduce Bayesian framework and the associated Bayesian data analysis with real data analysis from NHANES study. The second part is to introduce multi-membership multi-level modeling that accounts for data structures in which units can belong to multiple higher-level clusters simultaneously. A real-world example involving hospital doctors and patient outcomes is used to illustrate how multi-membership models more accurately represent these complex hierarchical relationships.
