The Business of Sports
Event description
- Free
Join us for a panel discussion with experienced sports journalists as they share their experience covering player contracts, stadium deals, sponsorships, and the new and rapidly changing world of NIL deals.
Sports journalism is a rapidly growing field, and for good reason: Sports contribute billions of dollars every year to the U.S. economy and have a massive influence on both a local and global scale. In addition to providing play-by-play coverage and player profiles, aspiring journalists with a passion for sports can differentiate themselves on the job market by leaning into the business angle of sports. This field offers endless opportunities for unique and engaging stories that are often overlooked.
Event panelists include:
- Todd Merkow, Faculty Associate
- Craig Morgan, Cronkite News Sports Bureau, Clinical Professor
- Brandon Brown, Phoenix Business Journal
This panel will be moderated by Brett Kurland, Assistant Dean of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
