This is the first lecture in the 2024-2025 Global Asia Lecture Series. As part of ASU's commitment to global engagement, sustainability, and future-oriented knowledge and research, the Asia Center at the Arizona State University organized a series of lectures for the 2024-2025 academic year on the theme of "Global Asia in a Multipolar World."

This panel, titled "Cambodia’s Industrial and Political Dynamics: Global Supply Chain and Superpower Relations," will delve into the intricate dynamics of Cambodia's evolving industrial and political landscape. Sophal Ear, Associate Professor at Thunderbird School of Global Management, Arizona State University, and Richard D. Fincher, Mediator & Arbitrator and Instructor at the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution at Cornell University, will lead a discussion that brings together expertise in governance, labor rights, and international relations.

The session will focus on the critical role of Cambodia’s garment industry in shaping both domestic and international outcomes, particularly under the new government regime. Additionally, the panel will explore the broader implications for Cambodia’s relationships with global powers, notably the USA and China. Participants will gain insights into how these intersecting areas influence the global supply chain, labor rights, and Cambodia’s strategic position in the international community.
