CEMinar: My V.T. Phan, Harnessing the power of genomics to track virus transmission and evolution

Event description

My V. T. Phan is an assistant professor in genomic epidemiology and bioinformatics of viruses. She uses next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics tools to focus on viral metagenomics, virus discovery and viral genomics for transmission and evolution. Phan was involved in large-scale genomic surveillance (VIZIONS, Wellcome Trust Strategic Award) to investigate viral zoonoses in Vietnam. She participated in real-time sequencing of the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone and the SARS-CoV-2 virus in Uganda, South Sudan and Burundi — work that has informed public health measures for contact tracing and quarantine.
