CHANGE SHAPE // SHAPE CHANGE

MFA thesis exhibition by Amy Simons

Event description

  • Arts and entertainment
  • Open to the public

CHANGE SHAPE // SHAPE CHANGE is a solo MFA thesis exhibition by Amy Simons.

Using emergence as a guiding strategy, this body of work investigates how we navigate our roles as individuals made up of and existing within, collectives. Through wrestling with overlapping and interconnecting scales, how can we recognize the systems that shape us while reorganizing ourselves towards mutual thriving?

Vast woodcut collages dominate the visual space while retaining their physical lightness. You are invited to linger amid these forms as they breath and sway in response to your presence, impacted without direct contact. Contrasting with the colossal, details present in each print invite closer attention; focusing care for individuals within the flock.

Opening Reception: Friday, Feb. 17, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
