"Are We There Yet? 25 Years of Research on Treating Opioid Use Disorder in Primary Care and Other General Medical Settings"
This event will feature Dr. David Fiellin, an internationally recognized expert in opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment from Yale School of Medicine and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Addiction Medicine. The goal of this event is to provide attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the current opioid overdose crisis and the advancements in OUD treatment over the past decades, focusing on primary care and general medical settings.
The 90-minute virtual session will include a one-hour seminar on critical topics such as challenges introduced by changes in the opioid supply, the role of behavioral counseling and medications (e.g., methadone, buprenorphine), and the application of implementation science methods. The session will conclude with a 30-minute interactive Q&A session with Dr. Fiellin.
