Dr. Barrack is a professor of nutrition and dietetics at California State University, Long Beach and a board-certified specialist in sports dietetics. Dr. Barrack has published over 50 peer-reviewed research articles on topics addressing bone health, bone stress injury, energy availability, dietary supplements and nutrition for endurance runners. From 2014 to 2021, Dr. Barrack served as lead dietitian for the seven year Pac-12 Healthy Runner Project, a multisite nutrition education intervention aiming to optimize energy availability, intake of bone-building nutrients and reduce the incidence of bone stress injuries among elite collegiate runners and previously worked as a team dietitian for the University of California, Los Angeles National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I athletic teams. Dr. Barrack is passionate about translating scholarly research to practical recommendations for athletes to optimize their nutrient intake, health and performance. She is a former high school and NCAA Division I collegiate cross-country and track and field athlete, enjoys playing or watching sports, baking and gardening with her husband and kids.
