Don't be Afraid of Cables: Audio Fluency for Music Therapists

Music therapist Gabe Lehrer, ASU alum (BM '21) presents a session on audio recording for music therapists. 

Prerequisites: MT-BC 

Schedule:
4:00-4:50 pm: Audio Terminology & Basics of Signal Flow 5:00-5:50 pm: Live sound Hands-on ( using microphones, amplifiers, mixers, and public address systems). 
6:00-6:50 pm: Recording Hands-on (using microphones, audio interfaces, and computers), followed by a discussion of how audio tools can best be used in participants' respective practices and a brief Q&A.

Lehrer is a experienced musician, producer, and MT-BC. He completed his MT internship at the Arizona State Hospital, working with both forensic and civil patients with a variety of psychological disorders. With over 10 years of on-the-job experience in audio, including live sound, recording and mixing, he has mixed live shows in a large variety of settings for Arizona and Nashville-based artists. Lehrer's most recent recording projects include the albums Small Open Spaces by (released Aug. 2023) and Things I've Said Before by Rem i Goode (released Sep. 2025).
