Event Details

Every Valentine’s Day, ASU joins this virtual birthday party for Frederick Douglass. Although Douglass never knew his birthdate, he chose to celebrate every year on February 14.

Each year, thousands of people gather to help create new & freely available resources for learning about Black history. Join us for this global Transcribe-a-thon at the Douglass Day hub for Phoenix!

Transcribe-a-Thon details

We will livestream the Douglass Day Broadcast from 10am-1pm (MST) in the event space. Events will include brief community lectures and transcribe-a-thon tutorials.

Transcription will open on Feb 13 at 8am EST. The direct link to the project on Zooniverse will be shared during the event.

We recommend bringing a computer or laptop to fully participate in event activities. Should you not have access to a computer or laptop, please email Liz Grumbach ([email protected]) in advance of the event.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Co-Sponsors

This event is co-sponsored by Arizona State University's Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics, the Center for Science and the Imagination, and the Humanities Institute. We also acknowledge that without the efforts of the Douglass Day organizing team, this global event would not be possible.
