The Economic Club of Phoenix (ECP), the premier speaker series in the Valley, hosts leaders from some of the best-known and most influential companies in the world — leaders who will share their expertise with you.
The 2024-25 season kicks off with Phillippe Lord, who has been the CEO of Meritage Homes Corporation (NYSE: MTH) since Jan. 1, 2021, after serving as the company’s COO and member of the executive team since April 2015. He is also a member of the Meritage Board of Directors.
Since joining the company in 2008, Phillippe is credited with leading Meritage Homes to many significant achievements during his tenure with the company. As the COO, he was instrumental in formulating and executing the company’s business strategy, which focuses on the entry-level and first-move-up markets while diligently driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Prior to becoming COO, he was the West Region president where he created a strategic operations function, providing analysis and recommendations on all land acquisitions, product, and pricing.
Phillippe also brings a passionate commitment to the challenge of building and sustaining a positive people-centered company culture. He led the development of a new set of Meritage Homes Core Values in 2017.
He has also spearheaded the Meritage Homes program initiatives regarding diversity, equity and inclusion.
Steven Hilton, who founded Meritage in 1985, tabbed Phillippe as his successor in 2018. Succession plans were created with the board of directors' involvement and support and executed with Hilton’s retirement as CEO at the end of 2020.
Earlier in his career, Phillippe was employed by Acacia Capital in Phoenix as national vice president; Centex Homes in Scottsdale as manager of market research; and with Pinnacle West Capital Corporation in Phoenix as a senior business analyst.
He is very involved in the Phoenix Community serving Phoenix Children’s Hospital on the PCH50 Group as well as Greater Phoenix Leadership.
